To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the cult film classic, a new beat-em-up based on The Warriors will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade this summer.
Earlier today, MTV's Multiplayer Blog revealed a new Xbox Live Arcade game based on the 1979 gang-war cult classic The Warriors. Scheduled to come out later this summer, it will be a part of a large-scale celebration of the movie's 30th anniversary. Unlike the first Warriors videogame, which was a retail release from Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games, this new game will be released by seasoned Xbox Live Arcade developer CXTM, makers of Heavy Weapon.
While the game retains the beat-em-up style of the original, this new Warriors game will eschew the more open-world style of that game in favor of the old side-scrolling arcade style of Double Dragon, Final Fight, and Streets of Rage, and the humorous unlockable extra from the Rockstar Warriors game, Armies of the Night. The official trailer--released on GameTrailers.com--features a comic-book style of narration, which was adapted into the Warriors DVD re-release. The trailer is shown below the two other screenshots.
