Sony PS3 outsells Wii and Xbox 360 combined
PlayStation single-handedly puts Microsoft and Nintendo in the shade – but only in Japan
Rumours of the PS3's death – or, at least, lack of life –could be greatly exaggerated. For, rather surprisingly, Sony's HD games console has actually managed to outsell the all-conquering Nintendo Wii in March.
In fact, it actually managed to sell more units than the Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360 combined!
For the record, the numbers show 146,948 PS3 sales, versus 99,335 Wiis and 43,172 Xbox 360s.
Startling though this sudden upsurge in PS3 sales is – after all, the Wii had previously outsold the PS3 every month for well over a year – it's too soon to necessarily say that the PS3 has finally turned the corner.
Especially since these figures are for Japan only. It's hard to imagine the PS3 seeing off its rivals so convincingly anywhere else in the world.
