2008 was the year of Fallout 3 as it took home several awards including game of the year in some cases. 2009 was a bit of a different story as the DLC content "The Pitt" was released with a bug in it and and had to be yanked from the Xbox Live Marketplace briefly. That minor inconvenience will barely be a blip on the radar after the disappointed fans get wind of the Fallout news of the day.
Gamasutra was on hand at Bethesda's event in London where they heard the announcement of a new Fallout game due out next year for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. Fallout: New Vegas is being developed by Obsidian and is "is neither a Fallout 3 sequel nor a spin-off."
"It's not Fallout Tactics -- it's not Brotherhood Of Steel. It's another Fallout game," said Hines. "It has no impact on what [Bethesda Game Studios game director] Todd Howard and his guys are planning."
There were no real details on the game itself right now but Gamasutra points out that many of the staff at Obsidian were part of the Black Isle that created some of the original Fallout games.
